A Day at the Zoo

I'm not sure where it came from, but for weeks Calvin has been begging us to go to the zoo. So today we loaded up the car and drove for an hour with him asking every five minutes if we were there yet. And once we arrived, all he wanted to do was play on the playground. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.

On the playground:

We let him play for quite some time, but then we dragged him off and forced him to enjoy the rest of the zoo. The day was hotter than snot, but it was still a lot of fun.

This was a fun little area where you could go into a tunnel and poke your head out of the top so that you were looking at the groundhogs from inside their domain. It freaked Calvin out.

Watching the bird show. He loved the blue parrot and the owls that swooped just above his head.

The Merry-go-round:

Outside of the ostrich pens there was a big fan that blew water. I think it was the highlight of the boy's day. We stayed there almost as long as we were at the playground.

The train:
At the end of a long day. Calvin nursed a cold slushie while the girl fussed a bit with the hot sun on her bald head. They both fell asleep in the car before we left the parking lot.

Why didn't they have the cute playground when we were growing up??? I love the gopher hole thingy.

If I beg to go to the zoo will you take me?
