This morning we left early to take the ferry to Bainbridge Island. We waited in line and watched the rain and the cars around us:
And then parked our car on the bottom deck:
And then played on the top deck for the rest of the ride:
Seattle behind us.
Autumn kept asking where all of the fairies were. She was so disappointed that she didn't see any and we had to explain the difference between ferry and fairy. But she seems to have gotten over it since almost three months later as I write this, she still says "Thank you that we could go on the ferry boat" every single night in her prayers.
Calvin ran across the decks, up and down the stairs, inside and outside. He called it another Big Adventure:
Once we got to the island, we had a quick lunch at Subway and then drove out to find a park that Andy had found online. We had planned to roam around the island more, but the park was amazing and we stayed there for three hours.
Battle Point Park. Coolest park EVER:
I loved this. It's the steps for the Cha-cha engraved on the deck:
Pretending to be Rapunzel in the tower:
Playing Hide and Seek:
Calvin wanted me to kiss the frog:
Autumn trying to get up her nerve to kiss him:
Then we built sand castles:
The best part about the park was that it was drizzling most of the time, so we had the place all to ourselves. When we were getting ready to leave, the sun came out and lots of kids started showing up. We consider ourselves lucky that we had so much fun and were alone for so long.
After the park we looked at a few houses. Since Andy works in Seattle so much, we've talked about moving here. We didn't find anything that we loved.
A little ways down the shore from the ferry dock, we found these really cool rock statues:
My sister told me about this little restaurant on the dock that we wanted to try for dinner. It looked like a dive from outside, but we were pleasantly surprised.
The kids were well-behaved.
The view from the restaurant was amazing:
The food was great.
Fish and Chips:
Lobster Mac and Cheese:
Great food, fun day, beautiful location. We loved Bainbridge Island and can't wait to go back!
