Bob The Builder

The other night we went to Target for some things and ended up looking in their little dollar bins. We had just come from Annette's house where she had this toy hammer with a smiley face (not to be confused with the real hammer that Lindsey used to beat spiders to death) that Calvin loved to play with. It was plastic, so we weren't too concerned that he pounded on everything he came in contact with.

So fast-forward a few days and we were walking by the little bargain bins in Target when we spotted a plastic hammer. It didn't have the face and was smaller than Annette's, but we decided to get it anyway. Those bins are tricky because everything is a dollar or two, but then they have a set of 12 things, so you end up buying all of them. The hammer just happened to be in a set of Bob the Builder toys, including wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. plus a hat and a tool belt - all of which we came home with.

Calvin hates hats lately, which makes me sad, but I didn't realize just how much until he lunged for the hammer I was holding as I took it out of the packaging, and as soon as he pulled it out of my fingers, he proceeded to take his hat off and start violently pounding on it as hard as he could with the hammer. I guess at least it's a good thing he knows what they're used for...

Cute Calvin in a hat. I love his chubby cheeks in this one. (That's water all over his face, not sweat. He'd just had a drink.)

I just liked this one because he looks like a little "short bus" rider who is hitting himself in the head with a hammer.

Banging away...

and away...
